一代天后惠妮休士頓Whitney Elizabeth Houston(1963~2012)，在2月11日過世，得年48歲，十分令人意外。她是80、90年代叱吒風雲的情歌天后，以寬廣的音域、有力的歌聲、極強的感染力著稱。同期瑪麗亞凱莉Mariah Carey、席琳狄翁Celine Dion稍可匹敵。1977年即出道，早年與母親在夜總會演唱，並擔任模特兒，直到1985年才發行第一張個人專輯《Whitney Houston》。總共才發行過7張個人專輯，並不算多。《Whitney Houston》(1985)、《Whitney》 (1987)、《I'm Your Baby Tonight》(1990)、《My Love Is Your Love》(1998)、《Just Whitney》(2002)、《One Wish: The Holiday Album》(2003)、《I Look to You》(2009)。1985年~1995年間有11首告示牌排行榜第一名單曲。較為特別的是她的成名曲有很多翻唱歌曲以及電影歌曲，無名歌被她唱過加持過後，變得威力十足；1992年她與凱文科斯納主演《終極保鑣The Bodyguard》大紅，透過電影無遠弗屆的魅力，成為全球家喻戶曉的天后；1992年與歌手Bobby Brown結婚，婚後禁藥、被家暴事件頻傳，形象、事業皆下滑，不如以往。2012年惠妮休士頓遺體在美國加州比佛利山莊希爾頓酒店房間的浴缸內發現。
同樣是一首翻唱歌，直到惠妮休士頓1986年重新翻唱後大紅，由Michael Masser和Linda Creed創作，原本是Linda Creed以自己與癌症病魔周旋的心境為基礎所寫成。在惠妮休士頓之前已有Jane Olivor和George Benson唱過。歌詞裡有著堅強的信念與意志力 ''I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows If I fail, if I succeed At least I live as I believe No matter what they take from me They can't take away my dignity Because the greatest love of all Is happening to me''

以婚外情為歌曲的故事背景，十分癡情的一首歌。 ''A few stolen moments is all that we share You've got your family, and they need you there Though I've tried to resist, being last on your list But no other man's gonna do So I'm saving all my love for you'' 原本為Marilyn McCoo 和 Billy Davis Jr.1978年的歌曲，在惠妮休士頓1985年翻唱後而大紅。
